Recount is
a text which is functioned to retell something in the past.
Generic Structure
- Orientation tells
who was involved, what happened, where the events took place, and when it
happened. ("Orientation" menceritakan siapa saja
yang terlibat dalam cerita,apa yang terjadi, di mana tempat
peristiwa terjadi, dan kapan terjadi peristiwanya)
- Events tell
what happened and in what sequence. ("Event"
menceritakan apa yang terjadi (lagi) dan menceritakan urutan ceritanya)
- Reorientation consists
of optional-closure of events/ending. ("Reorientation"
berisi penutup cerita / akhir cerita)
Recount ada beberapa jenis:
- Personal
recount
These usually retell an event that the writer was personally involved in. (Penulis termasuk di dalamnya). Contoh: Cerita pribadi.
- Factual
recount
Recording an incident, eg. a science experiment, police report. (Semua hal di dalamnya berdasarkan hal yang nyata tapi diceritakan kembali). Contoh: Download here.
- Imaginative
recount
Writing an imaginary role and giving details of events, eg. A day in the
life of a pirate; How I invented. (Kejadian nyata, tetapi tokoh bisa ada dan bisa dibuat). Contoh: Cerita Titanic. (Kejadian nyata, tetapi tokoh Rose dan Jack belum tentu ada).
